|Top 3 gas engines in Class A? Or is diesel better?||Stephen||3-8-17|
|I see a number of different engines being used in the Class A motorhome category. I'm looking at 35 ft. and above units, with 2 slide-outs.|
Any advice as to what to stay away from? My assumption is that they power the motorhome with the best for that, but there must be a good/bad comparison.
Or, should I only look at diesel pushers?
Any advice helps...

|Rule of thumb: Gas engine good for 100,000 mile life, wants to run 60 mph or less, really crummy fuel economy.|
Diesel pusher: Engine has 300,000 to 1,000,000 mile life depending on maintenance and will burn 20 to 30% less fuel. Does not care how fast you drive, you just pay in fuel.
The diesel pusher also comes with a chassis that will be good for 300,000 + miles with out serious trouble.
What it comes down to is how many miles are you going to drive it?
The gas power is so much cheaper and most motor homes never see 100,000 miles in their life.
That is the decision.

I am probably like most people who own an RV, where it will be just a big paperweight in the side-yard, but that is my intent. My wife and I are going to try and live in it fulltime. Whether that lasts remains to be seen, so the less expensive version of a gas unit seems to be the way to go for us.
Appreciate your reply, Bubba.
