First make sure the valve cover gasket surfaces ARE flat. Next, turn the covers upside down, and supporting the back side of a srewhole over a socket wrench of suitable size, slightly dimple the area around the screw hole using a small ballpeen hammer or similar tool. Next, lay a bead of weatherstrip cement along the valve cover gasket surface and put the gasket in place, let weatherstrip cement dry. Next run a bead of RTV sealer along the gasket surface and then install covers, LIGHTLY tightening screws to 15-20 INCHES of torque, DO NOT overtighten, or you'll force the gasket out of place.

Sounds like it is time for new valve covers.

Dodge 440 engines had a problem with frying the gaskets. There has been a special gasket available for high power use. the gasket is black on the outside but the material inside is white and probably a ceramic. I had a dodge class a and this cured the leaking problem. also there is a very high temperature rtv available at good parts stores that you might want to use.it is orange in color. good luck.,

The past 4 years I've tried cork, high temp, standard, neoprene, alone and with high temp silicone. All gasket combos with stock, new stamped, and new cast aluminum covers. ALL LEAKED! The best combo was Mr. Gasket neoprene with cast aluminum covers, it leaked the least...BUT STILL LEAKED!!
