Carpet replacement joseph 9-16-02
My carpet in the 86 sunflyer is really faded and could use replacing. how hard is it to do, and any tips on just getting a run of regular carpet, using the old for patterns?

Would like info on replacing carpet in 5th wheel with a slide out just width of sofa. What are concerns with slide out? Is Berber ok for this type of replacement? Does it take a specialist or just a good carpet installer? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I recarpeted and old 78 Champion once. The carpet was put down before the cabenits and walls were installed so you will have to cut along the edges to get the old out. I used and indoor/outdoor type (made for boats really) and it turned out pretty good for an amature. Its a lot of work but saved a lot of money.

I have done them, BUT I have found a carpet installer that does them for about $400 (34ft)including the carpet. I don't feel it is worth all the bother for that small amount of money.

I did my 1985 Winnebago Elandan 32' and it went good. Yes had to cut around the cabinet bases but no big deal. I used Berber from Home depot. I stapled the carpet to the flat floor and glued it to the engine box. All done in less than one day. Save the old for paterns.. especially if you are covering the engine box!

I used a young man, named David Milan, he owns a carpet store in Loganville, GA called "Carpets of Walton" he specialized in RVs, furnish carpet and labor, he did a beautiful job and I really like both he and his wife.
his phone # is 770-466-9727. I looked and looked, most installers did not want to have anything to do with it, I drove it over 200 miles and came back a week later and it was ready, no extra miles add, and was kept in a private fenced area.
