Roof sealant Cary 9-7-02
I am ready to put on a new roof sealant.Any suggestions as to which way to go? Any special brand? Technique? It is not leaking now,but want to do it before it does.It was last coated two years ago. Thank you

There is different sealant depending on your type of roof. Is it aluminum, galvanized metal, rubber or fiberglass? What was used the last time? As far as technique, we have found the bast way is three steps. First a thorough cleaning followed by a day of drying time, then do all the seams, vents, ladders, antenna base, or anything else fastened to your roof. Allow that to dry for a few days, then coat the entire roof including the seams and other things again. We get our supplies from a farm store locally and they have the best products at a good price.

I have an old house in scotland that has a slate roof with many leakes. I cannot afford to replace the roof, is there a sealant that I could spray on to waterproof the whole area?
