1994 Suburban John 4-12-16
I bought a 1994 Suburban and the brakes are little soft. I did the usual and bleed the brakes. The right rear wheel, I bleed and used 10oz of fluid and still had air coming out. I was filling the master cylinder and my son accidentally hit the brake pedal with the cover off and fluid shot out like a volcano. I have never seen this before. Is this normal for these trucks? The burb stops but the pedal is soft. Please advise.

You have an air pocket.

Do you have anti lock brakes? If so there is a special proceedure to bleed this system that includes a special scanner to run the antilock pump.

You might have bad flex lines, common on GM product where the iner liner of the lines comes loose and causes spongy peddle and the volcano situation.

Finally the Master cylinder could be bad, If the master picks up air every time you take your foot off the brakes, it will never bleed. Usually there will be a trace of brake fluid at running down the brake booster at the back of the master.
