Ford Overdrive switch won't work Kurt 8-7-02
Hey i just bought a F-250 automatic 1996, it has the overdrive off switch on the gear shift, well it don't work, i hit the button and nothing happens. The button is fine because i got a new one and the same problem, it is getting power because i tested it with a voltmeter, the transmisstion works fine but i just can't turn off overdrive.

Check power at the wire coming out of the steering column. These wires have a tendency to break in the column. There are many things that could cause your problem, so start with the most simple one.

Hey; got any suggestions for an overdrive switch that is blowing fuses and it's not a shorted wire in the steering column?
