|81 winnebago pressurized fuel tank||Ron||8-6-02|
|I have been working on a 1981 28ft Winnebago motorhome, Chevy chassis 454. We recently had to remove the gas tank and I feel that the gas lines were inadvertantly put back wrong. It has a pressurized gas tank. The coach ran great however the generator didn't. When I took off the generator's fuel line with the coach running, the line had a strong vacuum. Is there anyone out there who has worked on this type of system or has a service manual/schematic so I can route the hoses properly. There are 4 total on top of the tank. 3 of the hoses go toward the engine and 1 goes to the generator.|

|What you mean by "pressurized tank" is that there is a pump in the tank. The pressurized line goes to the engine pump. There is a return line from the engine that connects to a line usually smaller than the rest. There is a draw line from the generator, and a vapor line going to the charcoal canister.|

|I had a similar problem only my pressure was a definate pressure release when I took off the gas cap. This was after the gas tank had been removed and replace also. I found the problem to be the "vent hose" which also comes from sending unit as do the rest of the gas lines. At any rate, when I reinstalled the tank, I pinched the "vent hose" between the top of the tank and the frame of the motorhome. This cased a pressure within the tank. When I fixed the hose, it fixed the problem. You can check this out by locating the vent hose, which should be hanging over the side of the gas tank about even with the bottom of the tank, just blow into the vent tube, if you can't it is plugged.|
Hope this helps.
