Drive, doesn't go Ben 8-1-02
Hi, ok my '77 Chevy Nova has been sitting for about 7 months. I just got it going about two weeks ago. Well of course I drove it around the block, came back and parked it. When I came back a couple of hours later it wouldn't go foward. So I checked the fluid, it was fine. Checked everything else, nothing wrong. I think since it has sat for a long time, it has built up some gunk at the bottom, and when I got it warmed up, it just clogged the filter, but I'm not so sure.

You could have either a TH200 or a TH350 in your car. The TH200 is a fragile transmission. The first thing would be to drop the pan and filter. If it was plugged and "starving" for transmission fluid it should give you a buzzing sound from the pump cavitating. Have you tried reverse or pulling it all the way to low?? Seven months isn't a long time. Something could have broken or a stuck valve, pressure regulator valve bad. You really need to do a pressure test on it.
