|Furnace shuts off after 2 tries||Jeff M.||12-16-12|
|My Atwood hydro flame furnace #8531-111 DCLP won't produce heat. When you turn it on the fan starts up, after 10 seconds or so the burner fires up for about 5 seconds then goes out. This repeats after 10 seconds or so and then no more attempts to ignite. Is it the high limit switch?|

|No, The high limit will not cause this symptom.|
More likely that the control board is not seeing the flame and so thinks it is not lighting.
I do not have a manual for this furnace, but from the parts break down and what I remember it uses the gap between the ignitor probe and ground to sense the flame, if this gap gets to large it can't "sense" the flame and this happens. Either that or the board is bad. The board can be teasted at the counter of most RV shops at no charge, if they want to charge you to test a cary in board go to the next dealer.
To repair the probe gap requies tearing down the furnace untill you get to the ignitor probes, reduce the gap by 25% without damaging the wire or ceramic insulator.
Good Luck, Its a pain.
