99 ford ranger jeremy 11-14-12  
99 ford ranger it 4 cyl. when first started it will run rough and will die at stops but once warms up it runs great.there is no check engine light or nothing shows up on the codes any ideas......

There are a whole slew of things it could be.

It would be best if you could have it hooked up to a scanner that actually shows the sensors and such in real time. Start the truck and read the sensors.

I am going to guess (40% probability)that the Coolant Temp Sensor is stuck/failed and the computer thinks the engine is warmer than it is.

The first thing to start with is a tune-up: Plugs, air filter, fuel filter and sparkplug wires if they are more than 4 years old.

The tip-off is that the vehicle runs better after it warms up and no code is being set. The EFI looks like it is working, but unable to compensate for something during open loop. this can also indicate a problem with the fuel pump, but do the tune-up first.
