|Atwood 8531-IV furnace||mike||10-22-12|
|When I turn the furnace on it starts like it should. The fan comes on and runs for about 30sec, then the ignitor clicks once and lights the burner. The unit will then run for around 5-7 sec and then the burner turns off but the fans continues to run. It will do this two more times running for 5-7 sec each time. After the third time the burner lights and then turns off the fan will continue to run until I turn it off at the termostat. Any ideas on what the problem could be. Thanks Mike|

|Hi Mike, the most common problems for ignition system lock are, the exhaust or burner chamber is blocked with a nest or something, the flame sense electrode is defective and not telling the circuit board the flame is lit, the circuit board is not hearing the flame sense electrode. If the exhaust isn't blocked, remove the circuit board and take it to an RV shop and have it tested. This is most likely the problem, but not always. But it saves parts swapping and expense and should be free to test. Low LP pressure, electrodes out of adjustment are a couple of other possible problems. Good luck|

|I have another camper which has the 8531-III furnace and I changed the circuit board and still the same problem. I also changed the electrodes which look almost the same, both are single sense but it wouldn't light the burner it just clicks.Going to try a couple other things next weekend|
