I have heard there are additives to stop algae and the like from forming in diesel fuel. Is this the same as winterizing? Is it effective?

Diesel fuel winterizing is something I have never bothered with. The additives that purport to prevent growths etc work. But where I live it's pretty rare that any significant growth will happen where it gets 35 below. I usually just make the tank as full as possible then as long as I can reach it bag the vent with a white shopping bag and a rubber band and seal the filler the same way to prevent moisture and condensation accumulation. And as I am forgetful I put a sign over the ignition lock so I will remember to remove my winterization stuff before starting. Good Luck

Thanks a lot, Bubba! Practical and reasonable advice. So simple I should have thought of it... but, didn't.

Thanks again!
