Atwood Hydroflame 8525-iv-dclp won't fire Ron Beaver 9-2-09
Atwood Hydroflame 8525-iv-dclp propane heater/blower runs for 30-60 seconds then shuts down. Red light on ignition board flashes 3 times, stops for 3 seconds, then repeats. Guide says 'ignition lockout fault'. Local dealer quoted $180 for new board with no return if problem not solved. Any other possible cause of problem before I spend $180 for new board?

Hi Ron, Did you take the board in and have it tested? If the shop you are dealing with doesn't have a tester, find one that does. Usually no charge. But first check the connector plug on the board and all other connections and make sure the connections are free of lint, dirt etc. If the board tests bad buy a new one, if not, go from there. $180 seems a little steep. Try for a Dinosaur brand board, better warranty than an Atwood board, usually more reliable, but anything electronic is prone to gremlins. Good luck
