Dometic RM 763 Refridgerator Dawn Twiddy 8-22-09
I need help trouble shooting my refridgerator doesn't seem to be cooling. I have propane and electric to it. I had it cleaned out by at the shop but it still isn't cooling. The shop said just toss it and get a new one, but that seems to be alot of money I don't have right now. Any advice or suggestions?

Hi Dawn, Sounds like the cooling is probably bad.... unless it is leaking, you can direct wire the 120V heating element (if it's working). This by- passes all electronic controls. If it doesn't cool then, you have two options. Replace the cooling unit, or a new fridge. Neither is cheap but the cooling unit is usually the least amount. But you also need to consider the age of the unit. If it was an RV repair shop that told you to toss it, have them do the direct wire if you're not familiar with it. Good luck

Dawn - Dont consider a cooling unit. The controls are very old and there are virtually no replacement parts. I wont even attempt to repair the controls, wires are brittle, its a hassle to get to ---etc. If anything down there fails, you are for sure looking at a new fridge. Its hard but bite the bullet now and put in a new one.
Lots of luck William
