I have a '92 Bounder 34j with a Dometic RM2804 refrigerator. Recently the ignitor/reignitor melted down and luckily for me did not do too much damage. I have acquired a new ignitor but the damage to some of the wiring has left me a bit confused as where the wires went. I have a wiring diagram and I am competent to replace the wires but I am just a bit unsure of my understanding of the wiring diagram. Most of the wires are white and of course the wiring diagram is not explicit enough to let me know where each goes. My question is, can anyone help me understand the diagram or am I better off taking this to a repair facility to get my fridge rewired?
There has been a recall-for safety concerns for more than 3 years on Dometic RV reefers---was yours part of the recall?
go to the Dometic web site---the wireing diagram is there---or any RV dealer would have it-
The recall does not involve the igniter - it puts extra sheet metal around the burner and adds a thermal fuse above the burner area.
The bottom terminal on the igniter is a ground and there is a small ground symbol adjacent - this wire usually black, next look for the + symbol and that is where the yellow wire feeds 12 volts from the circuit board - yellow wire continues to one of the termoinals on the gas valve solenoid. The single terminal on the elevated part is the high voltage output that connects to the electrode at the burner. Good luck
