My 1996 Onan Marquis 6500 LP generator starts well and runs nicely for a while. Then at random lengths of time (15 minutes to an hour) it will start to knock. It sounds as if it has had a major internal break. Sometimes it stalls on it's own, sometimes I jump to turn it off and sometimes this doesn't happen at all. We usually overnight at a park with power, so the generator is seldom used and when used is under a mild load. If left for a few days it will start and run perfectly again. Any idea what the cause and solution is? |
