I have a hydro flame 7916 II that will not lite. The fan runs and the igniter sparks, but there seems to be no gas to burn. The tanks have both been filled and turned on.
Mark,
Maybe this will help, and maybe not, being I am a 1st time owner of an RV. I've learned alot getting all the utilities up and operating after it sat on a dealers lot for a year and a half before I purchased it.
After sitting for any length of time the gas in the lines gets dilluted and basically replaced with air, and first needs to be purged. Same with a generater, as the gas line needs cleared of old stale gas that most likely won't ignite if you poured it on the ground and put a match to it. I'm guessing that it has a built in electric igniter, and if so, in these days of high tech gadgets, if it doesn't ignite, the gas will cease to flow.
First of all, you've already opened your gas valve. Next, your either in the on/off position if your thermostat is anything like mine. Next the most important thing to remember is to check is the current temp that is on your local thermostat. If your manual setting for how warm you want it is not above that setting, depending on the accuracy of the thermostat, no signal will be delivered to the sensors telling the gas valve to open, and the igniter to ignite. If your igniter is obviously working, your setting on the thermostat is where it needs to be, so it might just take some purging to finally get gas to the combustion chamber. Be patient, and if a second eye is available to verify any ignition source, that is better, so that you are not wasting your time. With that second person, keep cycling the thermostat back and forth below and above the room temp, and hopefully this will purge the air out of the line. It's possible the the oriface may have some blockage as well, so a torch tip cleaner may just do the trick in clearing any pluggage, depending on your model. "DO NOT USE A TORCH TO TRY AND IGNITE your furnace!!" Wires may burn, and you'll only set yourself back!!! The repairs are spendy if you are like myself and live a ways away from a servicing facility, so I wouldn't tear anything apart either until you've tried troubleshooting as much as possible. Good Luck!!! Barry
An easy way to purge the gas line is to light the burner on your stove. Once it lights you should have the gas line purged of any air and the furnace should ignite. That is unless there is another problem causing it not to ignite.
