Re: Fort Mustang Code P1443 by Richard
Post New Message Dear Sam Watson, Richard Winters
here.

I have 1996 Mustang with 3.8 givibg a P1443 code.

I tried you instructions.

I have hot on one wire of the solenoid conection with the key on "run"

I connected the test light to both terminals and ran engine till warm, at idle and at 1500, the light did not come on.

I tried the test again with a nes surge sensor, no light.

I did not see any domagaed wiring and wiggled the wires and cleaned all connectors I could find.

The purge solenoid works if I apply battery voltage to it.

If one solenoid terminal is hot when the engine is running then the solenoid is energized when the other wire goes to ground...correct ??

Do you where the purge solenoid "cold" wire goes from the purge solenoid connector ??Also, any tips where to go from here ??

Regards and thanks, your post has gotten me so much closer to fixing my problem.

Richard in Friendswood, Texas.
