Atwood hydro flame Furnace Dale P. Appleton 3-25-09
My hydro flame furnace quit working. When turned on the fan runs for a couple of seconds then the fire lights and stays light for four seconds then goes out, five seconds later it lights again and goes out in four seconds, five seconds later it lights again and goes out in four seconds. Then it goes into lockout. The spark-ignitor has only two probes, one bent one straight. Could the flame sensor be incorporated into one of these probes? These two probes are 1/8" apart. I've checked every thing else all check out OK. Except the control PCB, I don't have the specialized equipment to trouble shoot it.

Hello
I had both of the same problems as listed here. I have alot of years working on electronics and tackled the problems myself. The first was the burner or flame and my fix was a loose crimp on the pcb 5amp fuse, all i did was take the fuse out and squeeze the female connectors and replace fuse. The fuse would make connection when lighting but the vibration of motor wouldn't allow the connection to be good. The fan sound i had was a lack of lubrication and a loose mount. The fix was wd40 and tightend the screws. Hope this helps

Hi Dale, Yes the flame sensor is in the ignitor. Sounds like the PCB isn't reading the flame. Make sure the sensor is fully in the burner flame and there's no crust on the tip. An RV repair shop should be able to test your board for you, which is what I'd suspect is the problem.(From here....) Good luck!

We have a 1990 Bonaire Fifth Wheel Trailer. When the furnace comes on it makes noise like a old metal ship scapping against a pier made of metal. It makes this noise for upto 15 secs then stops and the heat is on. Could the problem be the blower motor? Thanks.
(Original furnace.)

Hi Keith. I had the PCB checked and it is in good working order. The RV Tech suggested I order a new ignitor plus the red wire between the ignitor and PCB. It was out of stock so is on back order. I'll let you know if they fix the problem.
