Duo-Therm Air Conditioner Cynthia Johnson 8-2-08
I have a duo-therm model#57915-531 ducted air. My air works fine in daytime, but at night when temp is
reached and it starts to come back on it starts short cycling every few min. until I go and turn it off. Could the
thermostat on the wall be the problem?

Yes the thermostat could be the problem. first of all the thermostat should be calibrated with a 2 degree lag. In other words if set @ 72 it will not run until 74. But there should be a built in delay which on some thermostats is adjustable. Being that an RV is not very efficient in the insulation department it will warm up quicker inside and the thermostat will call for cooling sooner. The delay is supposed to prevent the air conditioner compressor from starting too soon causing your electrical breaker to trip. You will notice that during day light hours the air conditioner will run longer periods of time because of the poor insulation efficiency factor. At night the outside temp is cooler and the inside reaches the cool setting and turns off. Thus it will warm up sooner than a house and call for cooling creating the short cycle run time. Now do I have you completely confused? Have a reputable RV tech check out your thermostat.

Befor you spend any money, try running it on HIGH fan speed to keep the air moving.WH

Hello, I have a Duo-Therm by Dometic # 3101625.014 and you have to wiggle the power switch and sometimes push it in and hold to get it to stay on and i seem to be having trouble finding a new one. Can you tell me where i can get one or can i buy just the switch and try to take it off and resolder one in. if you can help me, that would be great.
Thank You,
Scott Lee

Ihave a duo-therm roof mount ac unit model # 59516.603 Everyting works good except the compressor will not shut off, even when in the off position. The fan in the unit shuts off when the temperture at the thermostate is reached and the air coming out is cold.

My local rv mechanic said the whole unit is bad, I think that it has to be some sort of sensor or switch.

any help?
