The quick easy way to fill a just repired system with no refrigerant. If it is a modle 102 or newer. TAKE A 30 LB bottle of 134a (or correct refrigerant for the system) and a bucket. Drop the Bottle into the bucket. Get a hose hooked to hot water. Hook the bottle to guages and only the high side to the compressor. open the bottle and the the double bottoming valve and finally the guage valve. Run hot water to keep the bottle pressure higher than the ac stystem. The system will deal with 100% of a bottle just fine. Top ups: Hook yuour guages up. Open both double bottom valves on the compressor just enough that your guages read the pressure correct. Run the AC for 20 minutes. You should know where three sight glasses are, they are the high sight glass between the condenser and the reciever. There are a bottom and top on the reiciver tank. All three are normally in the condenser area. Check the in line sight glass, it should not have any bubbles going by. Fill with refrigerant until bubbles go away. To fill a running AC is risky if not done very carefully. Feed only vapour (bottle up right and if it is a old style two valve bottle vapour valve only!!) You can use warm water to keep the pressure up in the bottle. (be carefull not to over heat the bottle!!! 100 degrees F max) you will find the bottle gets very cold and will not feed without. I have put the bottle behind the exshaust on the unit but had trouble getting my deposit back. When the in line glass gets clear of bubbles start checking the reciever lower glass. It will start splashing and then a line of liquid will apear. Fill to the middle of the glass (best) If it is over filled slightly NO big deal. If the liquid appears in the top sight glass BIG DEAL!! you will have to recover some. This is just an over view. Good Luck

How old is your bus, and what type freon is in it. What have you done so far as to need charging? If it has a leak....that is the place to start. Find the leak and fix it. Otherwise a little more information would be helpful.
