Just new into RV'ing and picked up a '93, with a Koler 4CKM21-RV Confidant 4 generator. It turns over but will not start. Oil level is good, 1/4 tank of fuel in the RV... it's all shrouded in so can't easily check for spark and fuel delivery, without a major tear-down. Anyone with a check list or advice? Very much appreciated.
Maybe the pick up for the gas in the tank (if it shares with the rv is above 1/4 tank, some are). The easiest thing to do is add gas to the RV and see if that allows it to run.
Was it left with old gas in it for an extended period? If so, Stabil is now your friend. Also if so, try draining all the old gas, start with fresh and see what it does. Also check to see if the choke is functioning. Take the air cleaner off and cover the air intake with a clean rag until it starts then take it off quickly, and then see if it starts easier. If so the choke is of suspect.
I'll bet the fuel pick up is above the 1/4 tank level of the tank and it is not getting gas. I think they make these like this so one does not use all of the on board fuel for the generator and then not be able to get to a gas station.
Thanks Mark ! The MH is not here right now, it's sitting at my daughter's 100 miles away down in the Vancouver area, but going down tomorrow so will check that out. Sounds like that's possibly it. will post my findings.
