My parents recently sold their 1991 Bounder motorhome. When they winterized it last fall, everything worked fine. The new owner called them and stated that the domestic water pump does not work. There are 3 different rocker type switches, for the pump, in 3 different locations. All 3 are stuck in the "on" position. You can depress them into the "off" position, but, as soon as the switch is released, it immediately rocks back into the "on" position. One of them was completely removed yet still behaves the same way.
There is power to everything, yet the pump isn't working and the switches are stuck "on". There is no water in the holding tank, would this make a difference?
It doesn't sound like the switches are jammed or broken, it sounds like they are momentary switches and you probably have intellitec water pump control somewhere in the coach. This is so that you can turn the water pump on from several places within the coach. You may have a blown fuse or a bad control board. Start with the pump first, if you have a battery, then hook the red lead from the pump to the positive and the black to negative and see if the pump comes on. If it does, then the problem is somewhere else. Check for power to the switches, trace back to the control board. Good luck, problems like this can be a pain.
It sounds like somebody abused the switches and they failed. If the pump was left running for a long period of time it would ebventualy fail the motor. First need to check for power to the pump. If there is power the pump is bad. No power check for power to and from the switches and replace all jamed switches. No power to switches look for fuses at pump and in fuse panel blown. Not found problem yet, check ground conection. Then start tracing wires or running a bypass wire to power the switches and pump. Good Luck
Strang as this might sound, I have seen similar situation when there has been a lightning strike or stray electric from lightning. My shop in Florida has multiple problems come in from lightning strikes. Even though the coach is sitting on rubber tires, it still can happen. I have seen many melted switches from just that.
I'm having the same problem with my 1995 southwind. It has 3 momentary water pump switches located at various locations. The pump works when the switches are bypassed. Where is the fuse or control board located?
