You will need to drop the torque converter dust cover undo the bolts and drop it. Usually right through the crossmember. I have jacked the engine up untill I can wiggle the pan out, I have dropped the crossmember low enough to get the pan out and I have pulled engines rather than take the risks involved in either of the other dangerous proccedures. Every so often I see a 454 with enough clearance to just pull the pan out, but these are rare in my expereiance. Most "pan leaks" are a rear main or oil pressure sender. In one case it was a plug in an oil gallery inside the bellhousing. And of course either the rear manifold gasket and or the oil pressure sending unit. I have also seen valve cover gaskets leaking and dribble down just right to look like the pan. Be care full and good luck
