The chassis of my motorhome is a 1983 E350 van with a 460 V-8 engine. According to the under-hood sticker, the emission control system is non-catalytic. There is no indication either on the sticker or the dashboard about unleaded fuel being required, and the fuel filler openings are not the small ones normally found on unleaded vehicles. My question is, was this vehicle designed for unleaded fuel, and if so, do you think the previous owner may have removed the restriction in the filler pipes?
Your '83 E350 was heavy enough to fit the classification requiring only certain emission controls, one of which was no cats, so leaded or unleaded fuel is OK, my advice is to use Marvel Mystery Oil in the fuel, about 4oz per 10 gals of fuel is ideal.
