IT'S INSTALLED IN A 1989 FORD 350 MOTOR HOME.
TUNED IT UP AND RAN GREAT FOR 50 HRS. THEN WHEN CAMPING AND WHILE IT WAS RUNNING, IT SOUNDED LIKE AN INCREASED LOAD WAS PUT ON IT AND THE THROTTLE INCREASED (AS IT SHOULD). I CHECKED THE VOLTAGE AT THE RECEPTACLE AND IT WAS AT 159v (NORMALLY BETWEEN 115 TO 127 DEPENDING ON LOAD). STARTED ELEC HEAT AND IT DROPPED TO 140. SHUT THE GENERATOR DOWN AND WHEN I TRIED TO RESTART IT, IT WOULD ONLY RUN WHILE I HAD THE START BUTTON PUSHED, WHEN I RELEASED THE START BUTTON IT DIES. I DISCONNECTED THE REMOTE START AND TRIED THE START BUTTON ON THE GENERATOR AND THE SAME THING - AS LONG AS THE START BUTTON IS HELD DOWN THE GENERATOR WILL RUN (HARD ON THE STARTER!)BUT AS SOON AS THE BUTTON IS RELEASED IT DIES. WHAT HAPPENED?
On mine it was the voltage regulator. yours may be different. The genny needs ac output to continue to run while you are holding the button this is being overidden. Voltage Regulator is $$. these guys were good http://www.flightsystems.com/
