Re: Soon to be Newbie Fulltimer by rrk
Post New Message Hi Renee-Nicole, Sounds like an exciting adventure. We have been RV'ing for many years and are now making the move toward full-timing. There are many excellent used RV's in the market and it certainly makes sense to purchase used. Having said that, we are selling our "99 Country Coach, 36 ft and have ordered a new 42 foot coach. Since we will be selling our home, we are looking for the best state to adopt as our residency. To regisiter your new motor home, Montana seems like the best bet, (no sales tax). We will set up a LLC and title the unit there. South Dakota is an excellent choice, 3% sales tax and no state income tax plus other benefits. Check out Alternative Resources in SD. They will provide you with much information. We have owned a Country Coach and would choose no other. Among most RV'ers, they are considered amoung the best.Anything '99 or above would be a good buy. In general, the owners of CC tend to care for their coaches and as a result it is difficult to find any CC that has been abused. Join FMCA, Family Motor Coach Association and join the Full timers chapter. You'll get all the advise you want and more, plus you'll even find friends that you'll meet again and again all over the country. There are lots of clubs and groups you can and should join, 1000 Trails is good, however, when you do, look at resales. There are many excellent deals. Just some thoughts. have fun.
