Can a 2003 or 2004 Nissan Murano 2 wheel drive automatic be flat towed? The dealer in are area says "yes" with slight modifications, what is your response.
The best way to determine your towing ability is to understand the towing capacity of your engine.
Engine and transmission tow capacities are the key. Your vehicle will probably tow any size automobile especially a small saturn or geo etc. But that is not the issue. The issue is- THE TOWING CAPACITY OF YOUR VEHICLE ENGINE MINUS THE TOTAL WEIGHT IT IS TOWING FULL FOR TRAVEL. In other words 1.Weight of camper fully loaded with your travel needs. 2. Size engine 3. Size transmission. Then ask your dealer the towing capacity AND WEIGHT, usually in the camper somewhere posted, of the camper and the weight of every vehicle is posted usually inside the auto lower driver door it is called the auto bible by mechanics. If your dealer or mechanic says you have 20,000 pounds of towing capacity and your CAMPER weighs 14,000 pds full, then the difference is YOU MAY TOW a 6,000 lb car MAX as an example. Remember the length OF THE CAR IS IMPORTANT many places will not be accessibble over 27 ft in the mountains. BUT I HAVE SEEN A 36FT CLASS A DIESEL OR V10 TOW A LARGE TRUCK WITH NO PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM IS BACKING UP UNLESS YOU HAVE A FOUR WHEELTOW TRAILER FOR THE CAR.
I have a jaguar s-type and would like to know whats the best way to tow it.

I have a 01 4x4 mountaineer w/ a 5.0 liter v8 engine and towing package. What size load can I safely pull? I have a horse trailer,1500 lbs. plus two horse at 1000 apiece making total weight 3500 lbs. I might add that I also have class 3 under bumper hitch. What's the largest but safest load I can pull?
Each year, Motorhome magazine publishes a list of towable vehicles, trucks & cars, whether or not they require any special preparation, how fast you can go, curb weights, etc. I have a copy of one but it's several years old now. Look for an up to date copy.

I want to tow a 2003 Chevy Tracker flat. The owner's manual gives instructions to do this but says to stop towing every 200 miles and run the engine in the Tracker for 5 minutes. Is anyone out there towing a Tracker 4 wheels down and how are you doing it?
I am looking at a really clean 1984 winnebago chieftan with a 454 engine. I would like to tow a two horse trailer and am wondering if the main consideration is the structure of the frame or gvw. any help will be appreciated.
I am now towing a 96 saturn with all four on the road, I am in the market for a newer car that I cam tow the same that doesnt require a lot of modifications Any suggestions?
The question is to tow or not to tow. The answer really depends on the extent of your travels. Are you in your camper for a week or two at a time or are you in it for longer periods. Bicycles are OK for riding around a campground, or touring an area if you are long distance riders but not very practical if you have to get groceries. If you stay out for a week or two at a time you may be able to bring enough supplies that you don't need to go grocery shopping. However without a toad you are kinda stuck at the place where your rig is parked. You can always unhook and tour in your coach, as long as you don't mind the hassle. Towing a vehicle really is not a big deal. The toad goes wherever you go. As long as you do not make any sudden maneuvers you are OK. What you have to keep in mind is not towing the vehicle but STOPPING both the RV and the Toad. Your braking distance will be much longer, especially if you do not have anykind of break assist in your toad. The combined weight of both vehicles AND your speed can more than double your stopping distance. If you are in moutainous terrain, going DOWN We have camped with and without a toad, it really depends on the situation.
Is anyone towing an Oldsmobile? I have a 1997 Olds cutlass Supreme I'd like to tow 4 on the ground.I dont Know if I will need a lub pump or what I need.Thanx for any comment on this.GL
Sorry I hit the wrong key. Going DOWN a steep slope is the most critical maneuver in mountains. Almost anything will get you up the mountain. If you overheat the engine it is not life threatning. Going DOWN a mountain with overhested brskes is life yhreatening, so GO SLOW. We have taken trips with and without a toad, it really depends on the particular circumstance.
I would like to some info about towing
I have a 1986 ford coachman I plan to take it to NY and wish to to a 1992 chevy astro van conversion behind it I would like to know if it can pull it easily thanks
Regarding the 1997 olds: It is aV6,auto w/front wheel drive.I believ that the tranny is the same as on Cavalier only 6 cylinder---The olds Trans Number is 4T60-E while the Cavalier trans Number is 4T40-E.I think that the numbers 6 And 4 denotes the number of cylinders.what do ya think? GL
