Working on the road - how? ZG 5-17-02
I would like to find out more about working while on the road; the costs; the work available, etc. There are many links on the web, but I think we need a Workcamper forum.

If you would like this site to have a WorkCamping forum, please reply to this post and indicate your ideas.

I would love to see a workamper forum, somwhere! We are very interested in becoming fulltimers. Since we are in our 40's we are a long time from retirement, and wondering if it is possible to make ends meet. We would love to hear from anyone who could share some of their experiences with workamping.

I'm very interested in RV full timing. And would find info on working on the road of great interest, items I have questions on are can you barter with campgrounds, for work on a short term.
If given a space for so many hours worked, how does that affect the Federal tax system, also Social Security?

I too would like to see a listing of those needing help in the area of RV repairs. We are fulltiming now but are still in a fixed business but will be freed up to travel in about 6 months and plan to do RV repairs to make ends meet. If I could post were I am and be able to edit it this would give those in need near me a way to get help. Also Those that need help could post where they are and the kind of help they need. Thank you.
Mike

You can sign up to be a member of RV-Coach Online, get a Virtual RV Park hookp, and make changes to your hookup as you move around.

In fact, many are already doing this.

Working on the road:

Does anyone know of any seasonal temporary jobs- possibly in Las Vegas, Branson, Pigeon Forge, Nashville?

Thanks,

ZG, Thank you. I am already in the Camp Ground. In the mountain area. It will not change mush until we are traveling around.

Does anyone know how I could get in contact with someone who needs their motor home transported from one place to another? I just recently retired and I have plenty of time to do this.

FIRST, WHAT MY WIFE AND I HAVE LEARNED IS THIS, VOLUNTEERING IN NATIONAL, STATE AND CORP PARKS REQUIRES 20 TO 25 HRS VOLUNTEER TIME FOR FULL HOOK UP, HOSTING, CLEANING, LITTER PATROL ETC: MOST ALWAYS NICE SITES. SOME STATE SITES MAY BE DESOLATE AND CROWDED DEPENDING ON THE AREA. NTL PRKS HAVE ALL THE MONEY. SO DO CORP PARKS SO THEY ARE NICE. ALOT OF TIMES IF YOU ASK AROUND THE RANGERS OR EMPLOYEES CAN EITHER HIRE YOU AS A TEMP AFTER VOLUNTEER TIME OR HELP YOU TO GET A TEMP/PART TIME JOB AFTER VOL HRS ARE FINISHED. THIS IS THE MOST DIFFICULT WAY TO WORK ON THE ROAD BECAUSE THEY DO NOT NORMALLY HIRE UNLESS IT IS A TEMP 6 MONTH TYPE POSITION. BUT IT IS GOOD TO VOLUNTEER AT SITES IN DIFFERENT PLACES WHEN YOU CAN BETWEEN JOBS, IT ALLOWS YOU A FFREE PLACE TO STAY BETWEEN CONTRACTS WITH THE CORP OR WORK CAMPING. lOOK FOR WORK IN AREAS YOU WANT TO GO ON YOUR DAYS OFF. WE GO THERE AND CHECK IT OUT AND LEAVE OUR CAMPER AT SITE, MOST VOLUNTEER JOBS ARE 3 MONTH OR JUST MONTHLY COMMITMENTS. REMEMBER YOU ARE A VOLUNTEER. DO SOME GOOD WHILE SEEKING WORK. IT SOMETIMES IS CHEAPER TO PAY BUT THAT IS NOT THE POINT IS IT. U.S. ARMY CORP JOBS. 6 MOS, 1 YR, 1 YR WITH 2 OR 3 YR OPTIONS. EASY, GATE ATTENDANTS NORMALLY BID 65 TO 100 DOLLARS A DAY DEPENDING ON AREA. LONG HOURS, FULL HOOK UIP, NICE SITES, LONG CONTRACT IF 5, 6, 9, MONTHS IS LONG FOR YOU. ANY ONE CAN DO IT THAT CAN BE BONDED FOR 3 TO 5 THOUSAND DOLLARS. LOTS OF WAYS TO BE BONDED. TO GET STARTED GET A CCR NUMBER OR CONTRACTORS NUMBER. GO TO http://www. usace.army.mil/contracting.html. REGISTER FOR A CCR. GET A DUNNS NUMBER A TPIN NUMBER AND A CAGE NUMBER, THEN START BIDDING. YOU'LL FIGURE IT OUT. THE PAGE I GAVE YOU HAS ALL THE DISTRICTS IN THE U.S. FOR EVERY CORP JOB IN THE COUNTRY. CLICK ON SIMPLIFIED ACQUISITIONS FOR PARK ATTENDANTS. NEXT IS WORK CAMPING, EVERYONE NEEDS HELP, WORK CAMPER.COM WE VISIT AND TALK TO THE OWNERS. REMEMBER, MORE MONEY IN WORK CAMPING BUT NO CONTRACT NORMALLY. BE PREPARED TO TURN THE KEY IF YOU AREN'T GIVEN WHAT YOU AGREED ON IN BASIC WRITING. THOUSAND TRAILS I KNOW LITTLE ABOUT EXCEPT THEY PAY EACH PERSON MINIMUM WAGE FOR 32 HRS A WEEK. HAPPY HUNTING. A FORUM WOULD BE AND IS LIKELY HERE.
