Re: Water Heater by Bruce
Post New Message You may have the wrong thermocouple. Most water heaters can use a universal one, but in rare cases some require a specific milivolt to function. In most cases if changing the thermocouple does not work and you are sure the pilot flame is heating the thermocouple and the pilot goes out when you release the button after a minute or so, you can assume the gas valve itself is bad. If this is the case in your situation you will probably find the most economical solution will be replacing the complete heater.
