Water heater maggie 4-28-10
I have a Kee water heater and when it turns on at the pilot light button to heat the water I smell gas escaping the red button you push down to lite the pilot. When its off its fine there is no gas smell at all..What can I do???

First, if you smell gas when the heater is on, you should not use it. You could have an explosion. That said, I need a little more information. Do you smell the gas after the pilot is lit and the heater is runniing, or do you smell it only when pushing down the button to light the pilot. Ifyou smell the gas, the pilot is lit and the burner is on, then you have a bad gas valve. Most gas valves on RV heaters are not worth repairing, but you can contact a parts house to see. Sadly, if the valve is bad the most economical thing to do is replace the heater.
