Unitrol Gas Valve Jim 6-10-09
I have a 1978 Dodge Motorhome. I lit the hot water heater and everything worked fine until a leak near the top valve caused the plastic knobs to catch on fire.
It is a Unitrol gas valve and I cannot find any numbers on it. Where are the serial numbers located? Also, can these be rebuilt or do I need to buy a replacement valve? Are these valves readily available? If so where?
Sorry for so many questions but I am on a time schedule with this project and need help now.

I see that back in June, you had the same problem with your Unitrol gas valve that I did recently. I hope by now you have fixed that unit, and are a wealth of info about it!
Can you give me any hints as to what you did to resolve your issue?

I guess these units have some sort of history of doing this.

Thanks for any help,

The Unitrol gas control valve on my camper Hydro Flame furnace has failed. I need a new valve but cannot find a replacement. Would not have to an exact replacement. Needs to have an On-Pilot-Off control and a temperature control. Original valve has a temp sensor tube and a thermocouple connection.

Pilot light won't stay lit.
